Born in Chicago, Il, he received a Bachelor of Science Degree with Honors in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern University Technological Institute in Evanston, Il. in 1974. After earning his Doctor of Medicine from Northwestern in 1979, Dr. Gratkins spent his four years of residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University, Evanston, Il. and one year as the Chief Resident in ObGyn Evanston Hospital, Evanston, Il. He is licensed in the State of Illinois.
Dr. Gratkins practices Obstetrics and Gynecology at his offices in Normal, Illinois as well as serving as Associate Clinical Professor since 1985 at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology College of Medicine, University of Illinois in Urbana, Illinois. He is also a consultant for A.M.A. Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technology Assessment Reference Panel.
